Why Lung Cancer?

Biomoda’s management team selected lung cancer as the first target for its proprietary cytology-based diagnostic because of the dismal five-year survival rates associated with the disease. Lung cancer is an indolent disease that develops slowly over many years. It is usually asymptomatic until late stage and often misdiagnosed. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the public health cost of lung cancer is more than $5 billion annually. Early diagnosis is the key to both prolonging patients’ lives and reducing health care costs.
