Database Technology
| Issue: |
One of the largest
challenges facing the medical community is early detection
of cancerous conditions and tracking the progression of a
cancerous infection through the stages of: Atypia,
Dysplasia, Metaplasia, etc. and tracking the effectiveness
of various therapeutic methodologies used to combat cancer
and pre-cancerous conditions. |
| Biomoda's Solution: |
The very nature of
Biomoda's Diagnostic modality is to utilize actual images
of the cancerous and pre-cancerous specimens. As
mentioned earlier, TCPP stained specimens will fluoresce
proportionately to their cancerous condition. Once our
automated slide scanner has obtained a slide image it will
then be incorporated into a database containing other
slide images. Each of these images will include some
background information on the patient. The intent of our
diagnostic database is to offer a tool containing these
images that can be used to track cancerous specimens and
the effectiveness of various therapies on these samples at
their various stages of development. |
| Outcome: |
After this database is
developed, a patient's diagnostic test can be contrasted
with other samples meeting similar criteria, cross
evaluated with the therapeutic options that successfully
treated previous patients displaying the same degree of
cancerous activity, thus providing a personal therapeutic
benchmark. |
